Sustainability

Learn about the practical measures used at Dalmeny Resort Hotel to manage housekeeping, laundry, water, energy, purchasing and waste.

Introduction

Sustainability at the Dalmeny Resort Hotel

At the Dalmeny Resort Hotel, we recognise the importance of managing the resources used throughout our day-to-day operation.

We are introducing practical measures across the hotel to reduce unnecessary laundry, water and energy use, limit waste and make more considered purchasing decisions.

This page explains the measures currently in place. We will continue to review and update this information as our practices develop.

Housekeeping During Your Stay

Reducing Unnecessary Laundry and Cleaning
Cleaning bedrooms and replacing towels and bed linen requires water, energy and cleaning products.

Guests staying for more than one night can choose whether they require their room to be serviced and whether fresh towels or bed linen are needed.

If you do not require a full room service, please let our Reception or Housekeeping team know. Essential supplies can still be replenished on request.

This approach helps us avoid unnecessary laundry and cleaning while allowing every guest to choose the level of housekeeping that is right for their stay.

TOWELS AND BED LINEN

Changed When Required
Towels do not need to be replaced automatically when they are still suitable for use.

If you would like to continue using your towels, please leave them hanging in your bathroom. Towels left in the bath or shower will be replaced.

Bed linen can also be changed during your stay upon request. Please speak to Reception if you would like fresh linen or require any additional bedding.

ENERGY USE

Managing Energy Throughout the Hotel

Our team is encouraged to switch off lighting and equipment when it is not required and to report unnecessary energy use.

We continue to review lighting, heating and other equipment throughout the property so that improvements can be considered when maintenance work or replacements are required.

Guests can assist by switching off lights, televisions and other electrical items when leaving their bedrooms.

water USE

Avoiding Unnecessary Water Consumption

We monitor how water is used across guest bedrooms, leisure facilities, kitchens, housekeeping and other operational areas.

Reducing unnecessary towel and bed-linen changes is one of the practical ways we can reduce the amount of water used for laundry.

Guests and employees are also encouraged to report dripping taps, leaks or other maintenance problems so they can be investigated promptly.

WASTE AND RECYCLING

Managing Hotel Waste

The hotel separates recyclable materials where suitable collection arrangements are available.

Our departments are encouraged to avoid unnecessary waste, use products efficiently and review ordering levels to help reduce avoidable surplus.

We also work with our suppliers to identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary packaging and improve how materials are handled.

FOOD WASTE

Careful Purchasing and Preparation

Our kitchen and food and beverage teams monitor purchasing, storage, preparation and service levels to help reduce avoidable food waste.

Menus, stock levels and anticipated guest numbers are reviewed to help the hotel purchase and prepare appropriate quantities while maintaining the choice and service expected by our guests.

WORKING WITH OUR SUPPLIERS

More Considered Purchasing

When reviewing products and suppliers, we consider suitability, quality, value, packaging, delivery arrangements and the availability of reusable or recyclable alternatives.

Environmental statements made by suppliers are considered alongside the supporting product or certification information available.

HOW GUESTS CAN HELP

Small, Practical Choices

Participation is entirely optional and will not affect the service or assistance available during your stay.

OUR APPROACH

Reviewing and Improving Our Practices

We will continue to review our use of water, energy, laundry, cleaning products and other resources.

Where practical improvements are identified, we will consider how they can be introduced without compromising guest comfort, cleanliness, safety or the quality of our service.

We will update this page when new measures are introduced or existing practices change.
